About this limited edition photograph:
The composite photograph “Coldwater Cave- Widowmaker” was created in a private cave located in Winneshiek County, Iowa.
Coldwater Cave- Widowmaker consists of nine separate exposures that were blended using Photoshop.
I created this composite light painted photograph by setting up my Canon 80d camera with a Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX II lens on a tripod. I used my ElSpeleo Rescue 2200 caving headlamp to light paint the cave walls and rocks. I made an effort to skim my light across the surfaces of the stone to bring out the texture. I placed a camera flash in the distance and remotely triggered it to illuminate the depths of the cave. Finally, I got myself into position on the rock and popped a camera flash located behind me to capture me in the frame.
