About this limited edition photograph:

The blended/stacked photograph “Seneca Drive” was created near Silt, Colorado.

Seneca Drive is comprised of (49) exposures for the foreground (ranging from 10 to 32.7 seconds in exposure length and f3.5 in aperture), and (300) 10-second exposures (f3.5 aperture and ISO-400) stacked for the sky/star trails.

I created this blended/stacked photograph by setting up my Canon 80d camera with a Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX II lens on a tripod on Seneca Drive. I had my assistant Ashley Kjome trigger the long exposure while I started driving the vehicle down the road. As soon as the vehicle was out of sight and around the corner Ashley triggered the camera to stop exposing. I then created a timelapse (300, 10-second exposures) to capture the stars rotating in the night sky. I used free software called StarStax to stack all 300 exposures of the stars into star trails. I then took 48 of those 300 timelapse photographs into Photoshop and stacked them using the Median blend mode in an attempt to reduce the noise in the foreground. I blended the single photograph of the car’s head/tail lights, the photograph of the star trails and the photograph of the grass and hillside together using Photoshop. The resulting image is Seneca Drive
