About this limited edition photograph:

The blended/stacked photograph “Rifle Mountain Park” was created in Rifle Mountain Park near Rifle, Colorado.

Rifle Mountain Park is comprised of (5) exposures for the foreground (ranging from f/3.5 to f/9 in aperture and all 30 second exposures), and (1) 30-second exposure (f/3.5 aperture and ISO-800) stacked for the sky/star trails.

I created this blended/stacked photograph by setting up my Canon 80d camera with a Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX II lens on my Induro Grand Turismo CGT-114 tripod featuring a PhotoClam NS-38 ballhead. I started by photographing the sky during the “blue hour”. I then got in my vehicle, triggered my camera to take a 30 second exposure, and drove past the camera and down the road. When I returned to the camera I was able to view the LCD screen to take notes and make camera exposure adjustments. I then repeated the process until I had a good exposure without overblown highlights. 

At home I edited my photographs in Lightroom, and then I stacked and blended the photograph of the car’s tail lights, four photographs where the foreground was illuminated and a single photograph of the sky/stars using Photoshop. The resulting image is Rifle Mountain Park.
