About this limited edition photograph:
The photograph “Maclurites Spiral Galaxy- B&W” was created on the Trout Run Trail in Trout Run Park in Decorah, Iowa.
To create this photograph I placed a collection of Maclurite fossils on the dried mud in a spiral pattern. I then setup my Canon T3i camera with an 18-55mm kit lens on my tripod, faced it straight down and took the photograph. This photograph is one of two versions that I created that night: Maclurites Spiral Galaxy is a light painted version that was illuminated using a sparkler firework:
