About this limited edition photograph:
The composite light painted photograph “Dunning’s Spring Holiday” was created at Dunning’s Spring Park in Decorah, Iowa.
In 2019, Decorah stone mason Ted Wilson and a few others built the beautiful dry-laid arch bridge at Dunning’s Spring Park. With the holidays approaching I thought it was the perfect time to photograph this impressive and beautiful structure at night.
To create this composite light painted photograph I setup a Christmas tree with battery powered LEDs next to the bridge, and I placed my Canon 80d camera with a Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX II lens on my tripod. I used my Vidpro Varicolor 144-Bulb LED panel to selectively illuminate the bridge, water and trees using separate exposures. I then photographed the Christmas tree lights and the star as separate exposures. I used Photoshop to blend the five exposures into a single photograph, resulting in Dunning’s Spring Holiday.
