About this limited edition photograph:

The light painted photograph “Madison Cascades” was created on Madison Road in Decorah, Iowa.

To create this light painted photograph I placed my Canon T3i camera on a tripod and I used a long exposure of 46 seconds. I used a roman candle firework to shoot lines of color at various angles over the waterfall. The firework featured red flares that shot out, and these red flares provided the red color in the photograph. My assistant Ian Tindall assisted me by triggering my camera’s shutter to open and close while I worked with the firework above the falls. 

This photograph came off my camera as-is, and involved zero post-processing or Photoshop.
